Content Marketing Specialist



The Content Marketing Specialist is responsible for leading content strategy and content creation for AAA Minneapolis social channels, web site, blog and member magazine. This position focuses heavily on short- and long-form written communications, and also manages video and photography content as well. This position creates content that drives awareness, acquisition and retention, and is relevant to our members and the communities we serve.


The Content Marketing Specialist manages social media accounts including audience measurement and community management, and also managed third-party software to coordinate, schedule and monitor social and blog content. The person in this position is expected to monitor content marketing trends to ensure the club is producing content in a manner that is expected of our members.


This role serves as a member of the publication editorial staff, and will contribute as both a writer and editor. The Content Marketing Specialist will support the Managing Editor to develop the editorial calendar and manage publication administrative responsibilities.




Content Strategy: Work with the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications to develop overall content marketing objectives and content strategy for all AAA Minneapolis owned communication channels.


Content Planning: Develop and manage integrated editorial calendar for all content channels


Social Media: Develop content for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn on a daily basis to reach and engage with fans and followers; work with Senior Management, Marketing and Communications, to establish and reach audience growth goals; serve as club liaison for member inquiries via social channels; leverage third-party software to coordinate, schedule and monitor social content; work with AAA national to ensure club adheres to policies and guidelines.


Member Magazine: Contribute to the bi-monthly member magazine as both a writer and editor; collaborate on the development of the annual editorial calendar; work with editorial staff and business teams to ensure editorial content is submitted in a timely manner.


Blog: Manage and execute the new blog program; develop and facilitate blog content creation; integrate blog content creation within social channel and web site as necessary.


Club Communication: Provide editorial and proofing support for the club web site, intranet, press releases, member emails and potentially other club communications.


Budget: Manage content creation budget potentially to include freelancer costs, stock photos, original photography, software and/or audience acquisition marketing dollars.


Quality Standards: Ensure that the development and implementation of club content adheres to AAA national quality standards and industry best practices.



  • Minimum of 3 years content creation or writing experience for company or news organization
  • BA in communications or journalism is preferred
  • Strong professional writing skills; including proficiency in both short- and long-form content
  • Proficient with editing and proofreading
  • Experience with social media management software like Spredfast or Hootsuite is preferred
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Able to handle sensitive information and situations effectively
  • Able to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Able to travel occasionally within Hennepin County to capture or create content
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
