The Minneapolis Auto Club Foundation for Safety, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that partners with AAA Minneapolis, works to align and partner with other traffic safety advocacy groups throughout Hennepin County to create a stronger and safer community. One way it does this is by awarding monetary grants to organizations seeking to host traffic safety events or start traffic safety initiatives.

Since 2004, the Minneapolis Auto Club Foundation for Safety has awarded nearly $150,000 in community grants. These grants have allowed Hennepin County schools, city councils, park and recreation boards, and police departments to host events such as:

  • The School Safety Patrol Appreciation Celebration for grade school students who volunteer as safety patrollers
  • National Night Out, which allows community police officers to get to know residents and share safety information
  • Youth Summer Safety Camps, where children learn about bike, pedestrian, car, bus and fire safety
  • The Edina Safe Driving Rodeo, where high school students learn the dangers of impaired and distracted driving

These are just a few of the wonderful grants that have been awarded recently. If you or your organization has an idea for a traffic safety event or initiative but need financial help to make it happen, or if you want to learn more about the Minneapolis Auto Club Foundation for Safety, visit AAA.com/Grants.
