Are You On Email?

Jesse Simon

I’ve always been fascinated by technology and innovation. At a young age, I remember watching “Mr. Wizard” on TV while tinkering with my inventions for the local inventor’s fair, hoping to create the next big thing. Although my career as an inventor never really took off (I did make it to the state competition, however), my fascination with technology and innovations never waned.

Fast forward to the early 1990s, when a friend told me about new technology that allowed a person to send a letter from a computer to another computer. I didn’t believe it—after all, it sounded like high-tech wizardry—but my friend assured me it was real, and it was called “email.” This was the kind of technology that I loved, and I knew it would be game-changing. While email had been around since the 1970s, the technology would become mainstream in the 1990s and forever influence the way we communicate.

It is confounding that it has been 25 years since I discovered that email existed, and it is no longer new or exciting. Still, while there is a revolving door of smartphone apps and social media platforms, email remains among the most reliable and time-tested ways to share digital communications. That is why we’ve invested time and resources to deliver Live|Play|AAA content by email every month.
