ST. LOUIS PARK (September 24, 2018) – Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and injury among children. Fortunately, there is something parents can do.  Proper use and installation of a car seat can reduce the risk of injury by over 71%.

To promote car seat safety, AAA Minneapolis is having a car seat recycling event. It will take place on Friday, September 28th from 8am – 6pm and Saturday, September 29th from 9am – 5pm at the AAA Minneapolis St. Louis Park headquarters, in the upper parking lot.

“Most people don’t know that car seats have an expiration date. We want to promote proper car seat usage and encourage people to drop off their old, expired and unsafe car seats,” said Jesse Simon, Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications.

AAA members and non-members alike are all encouraged to bring their old, unused, expired, damaged or recalled car seats. Limitations are two seats per family, and large collections from organizations will not be accepted.

AAA is partnering with Penske and Advance Opportunities for this event.
