MINNEAPOLIS, MN (May 4,2020)— AAA Minneapolis is excited to participate in National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) every year. The annual celebration of the U.S. travel industry, created by Congress in 1983, demonstrates the economic power of travel in the U.S. and provides an opportunity to unite the industry through one common theme. In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s theme is the Spirit of Travel, which will spotlight the resilience and hope during these unprecedented times.

“Through every hardship, I find myself in awe of the travel industry’s ability to join together, adapt, and emerge stronger than before,” said U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow. “This is our toughest challenge yet, but what I’ve seen is that the spirit of travel has not been shattered.”

Since in-person rallies and events that have been hallmarks of NTTW in years past are not an option this year, AAA Minneapolis is utilizing online mediums to highlight travel and assist with planning. In the Spirit of Travel, we are promoting “armchair travel” by highlighting multiple virtual tours each week. Our travel advisors are working hard from a distance to answer any questions and help people start to plan their next adventure via phone, email, online chat, and video call. Regardless of timing, location, and budget, our advisors are excited to help travelers research and begin planning so that they can look forward to a dream vacation.

Linda Snyder, Vice President of Travel and Retail Services at AAA Minneapolis said, “There’s no doubt this has been an incredibly challenging time for AAA Minneapolis and the travel industry as a whole, but we see National Travel and Tourism Week as an opportunity to remind our visitors and our residents of the incredible spirit and resiliency of the travel industry and our workforce. It’s only a matter of time before we all get moving again. The AAA Minneapolis Travel Advisors can currently assist travelers virtually or via phone, and will be more ready than ever to welcome travelers with open arms in person as soon as it’s safe to do so.”
