Activity Level

Level 3: This tour includes moderate physical activity. For multi-day trips, the itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven walking surfaces should be expected. Most Level 3 tours would include guided tours with walking distances up to a mile or up to an hour at a time (at a very leisurely pace). Day One: Depart USA

Depart for overnight to Norway. Please note that flights are not included. Group air options may become available in the Fall of 2023.

Day 2: Arrival - Oslo

Meet with our tour leader and private coach at Oslo Airport. Take a stroll through the new central city district, Bjørvika, and marvel at Oslo's latest architectural additions. Discover the rich history and culture of Oslo on a walking tour to many of Oslo’s major attractions. You will see many landmarks such as Akershus Castle and Fortress, which has protected the city since 1913, and Kristiana Torg, which used to be the heart and soul of the city. Spend the night at the Thon Hotel Opera*, situated in the center of Bjørvika, right next to Oslo’s famous opera house.

Day 3: Ulvik - Hardanger Fjord

Delight in a 2-course lunch at Pers Hotell, where Norwegian and international cuisines are served. Ulvik is a cozy village on the shores of Hardanger Fjord. In the region, you will find many fruit orchards and farms that produce their own cider from the region's apples. Travel to Brakanes Hotel* for overnight, which sits right at the edge of the fjord in the heart of Ulvik.

Day 4: Bergen - Bryggen Wharf - Mount Floien

Travel to Bergen for 2 hours of city sightseeing with a local guide. Sights of interest are the fish and flower market and Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf. Bergen is Norway’s 2nd largest city, known as the capital of the west and gateway to the fjords. It is a UNESCO World Heritage city with Bryggen wharf, Mount Fløien and the fish market as central attractions. A stroll through Bryggen takes you back to the Middle Ages with its 700–900- year-old architecture. Overnight at the Clarion Hotel Admiral*, located right in the heart of Bergen near the harbor.

Day 5: Flam Railway - Naeroyfjord Cruise

Enjoy a spectacular journey on the famous Flåm Railway, one of the steepest standard gauge railway lines in the world. Travel up to the high mountain station at Myrdal, located 866 meters above sea level, then board the ship for a fjord cruise on the narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjord from Flåm to Gudvangen. Surrounded by steep valley sides and snow-covered peaks, thundering waterfalls, and picturesque villages, this area - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is considered one of the most beautiful fjord landscapes in the world. Overnight at the Kviknes Hotel*, overlooking the Sognefjord.

Day 6: Sognefjord

The Sognefjord is Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, and its famous arm, the Nærøyfjord, enjoys World Heritage status. The surrounding mountains offer mild climate, fresh air, and lush green pastures – ideal conditions for local farming and agriculture, as well as outdoor activities like biking and hiking.

Day 7: Briksdal - Jostedal Glacier National Park - Geiranger Fjord Cruise

Delight in a 2-course lunch at Briksdalsbre, Fjellstove, while enjoying a view of spectacular peaks and cascading glaciers. Enjoy a tour with the so-called “Troll Cars,” that begins in central Briksdal, with a stop for a photo-op just 700 meters from the famous Briksdal glacier, and following that, an even closer view along a walk into Jostedal Glacier National Park. Next, enjoy a cruise on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Geirangerfjord, one of the narrowest fjords in Norway, surrounded by romantic scenery of mountain farmland and snow-capped peaks. Lush green valleys and magnificent waterfalls, including the “Seven Sisters” and “Bridal Veil” are reflected in the deep blue waters of the Geirangerfjord, considered Norway’s Jewel in the crown of fjords. Travel along hairpin-bending roads that twist and turn on the way to Geiranger Skywalk- Mt. Dalsnibba, Flydalsjuvet, and Ørnesvingen, for another panoramic view of one of the most scenically outstanding fjord areas on the planet. Overnight at the Union Hotel Geiranger,* located across from Geiranger Waterfall.

Day 8: Dalsnibba - Geiranger Fjord

Experience a bus trip to Dalsnibba, a 1500 meter high mountain with a spectacular view over the Geiranger Fjord. Driving up the beautiful and winding road you’ll discover unspoiled backcountry and be part of one of the most beautiful and exciting bus tours in Norway. Enjoy the view over the UNESCO world heritage site Geiranger and its surrounding region high above the sea. Overnight at the Thon Hotel Opera*.

Day 9: Depart for USA

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer by private coach to Oslo Airport, Gardermoen and depart back to the USA on your scheduled flight.
