Minneapolis, MN (Mar. 20, 2020) – In an effort to keep our staff, members, and customers healthy, AAA Minneapolis HQ and all branches are temporarily closed to the public through April 4th, 2020 at 5 p.m. Our staff is still available to assist members and customers via email, online chat at AAA.com, or phone at 952-927-2600.

Even though this means our license bureau is closed to patrons, we have an online form for License Bureau related questions, and two options for tab renewal: mail-in or drop-off. For both options, you must provide your current tab renewal notice and a valid check for the exact amount due. Please note no renewals placed under our front door will be processed.

Drop-off Tab Renewal

Our drop-off tab renewal option allows people to come to our drive-up window at the St. Louis Park HQ location and drop off their renewal notice and check for the exact amount due. Our License Bureau staff will then process the renewal and have it ready for pick-up starting at 12 p.m. the next day. The window is located on the Southeast side of our St. Louis Park building and is open 24/7.

*note: if you drop your tabs off you have to pick them back up.

Mail-in Tab Renewal

Our mail-in option allows people to mail in their renewal notice and check for exact amount due, and then receive their tabs in the mail 7-10 business days later. The address for mail-in is AAA Minneapolis, Attn: License Bureau, 5400 Auto Club Way, St. Louis Park, MN 55416-2576.

License Bureau Questions

If you are prepping for REAL ID, need to transfer plates or register a vehicle, or even have questions about your tabs, fill out our online form and one of our License Service representatives will get back to you shortly to help answer your questions. Simply go to AAA.com/ContactUs and select "License and Vehicle Registration" as the department you would like to communicate with. We will respond to whatever email you list.

Utilizing these non face-to-face options allow people to stay up-to-date on tabs and have their questions answered, even during this temporary shut down. We are encouraging everyone to utilize all three options so they can avoid unnecessary time in a DMV waiting room with other people once the temporary shutdown is over.
