Day 1: Vancouver, Canada

Canada's third-largest city, Vancouver is a cosmopolitan place with a European feel and a personality all its own. It's a community with a rich ethnic mix - including the second-largest Chinatown in North America - and stunningly beautiful parks.

Day 2: At Sea
Day 3: Ketchikan, Alaska

Ketchikan is known as Alaska's "First City" because it's the first major community travelers come to as they journey north. Located on an island, Ketchikan began life as an Indian fishing camp. The name Ketchikan comes from a Tlingit phrase that means "eagle with spread-out wings," a reference to a waterfall near town. Visitors to Ketchikan will be intrigued by its rich Native heritage, which includes the world's oldest collection of totem poles at Totem Heritage Center. The Haida, Tlingit and Tsimshian are all a part of the city's colorful history. Ketchikan, with its abundance of salmon, is also a sportfishing paradise. Sightseers will be impressed with both the scenic town and its surroundings, especially Misty Fjords National Monument.

Day 4: Juneau, Alaska

In 1880, it was slow going for Joe Juneau and Richard Harris as they searched for gold with the help of Native guides. After climbing mountains, forging streams and facing countless difficulties, they found nuggets "as large as beans." Today Juneau is famous not only for gold and government but also for its breathtakingly beautiful glaciers and stunning views of both water and mountains.

Day 5: Skagway, Alaska

Skagway was the gateway to the gold fields for the thousands who flocked to Alaska and the Yukon with the hope of striking it rich. Skagway may have boasted the shortest route to the Klondike, but it wasn't the easiest.

Day 6: Glacier Bay National Park (Scenic Cruising), Alaska

Princess is one of a select few cruise lines permitted to cruise the pristine waters of Glacier Bay, the highlight of our 7-day Voyage of the Glaciers cruise. Just west of Juneau, this breathtaking national park and preserve boasts some of the world's most spectacular tidewater glaciers, such as Margerie Glacier, which often drops colossal chunks of ice into the sea. Not surprisingly, Glacier Bay National Park and its epic ice giants are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising Alaska's magnificent park system.

Day 7: College Fjord (Scenic Cruising), Alaska

Discovered in the northwest corner of Prince William Sound during an 1899 research expedition, spectacular College Fjord and its glaciers were named after prestigious east coast schools by the college professors who first laid eyes upon their majesty. Stretching for miles, these massive rivers of ice tumble down from mountains and through valleys, dipping into the pristine waters of the fjord. There you'll have a chance to watch the awe-inspiring process of glaciers calving, or dropping enormous pillars of ice into the sea, as they crack and land with a thunderous splash – a once-in-a-lifetime experience not to be missed!

Day 8: Anchorage (Whittier), Alaska

Whittier, approximately 65 miles southeast of Anchorage, lies nestled at the base of the Chugach Mountains bordering Passage Canal. Established as a World War II port for cargo and troops of the Alaska Command, Whittier remained activated until 1960. Today, Whittier's economy and its 290 residents rely largely on the fishing industry, the port and, increasingly, on tourism.

Disembark in Whittier and travel by motorcoach to Anchorage for a 1-night stay at the Hotel Captain Cook. Visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center en-route.

Day 9: Mt. Mckinley Princess Wilderness Lodge

Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge®
The native Alaskans called it Denali - ''The Great One'' - and you'll find towering Denali and the Alaska Range simply stunning. The lodge is located approximately one hour from the town of Talkeetna, which is nestled at the base of Denali and is also home to the Talkeetna, Chulitna & Susitna Rivers. Some residents say Talkeetna means "Where three rivers meet" but established in 1919 Talkeetna is now more known as the base camp for climbers preparing for their attempt to ascend Denali. The rail depot is in Talkeetna and several land excursion tours have convenient tour times that will coordinate with the Princess Rail schedule to avoid the unnecessary one hour transfer between the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge and Talkeetna for those guests arriving or departing by rail. Refer to each description for our recommendations as to how to book Talkeetna or lodge based tour options to maximize your stay at the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge.

Day 10-11: Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge

Between our two Denali lodges is some of Alaska's most beautiful scenery. Sightsee by motorcoach to Talkeetna then enjoy Princess Rail service to the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, situated a short shuttle ride away from spectacular Denali National Park. Be sure to check out Fannie Q's Saloon, named after a famed local homesteader, or sit outside at a fireside patio.

Start your morning with a quick stop at Fannie Q's saloon for a hearty buffet breakfast. Explore Denali National Park on a Natural History Tour, watching for glimpses of Denali as well as Denali's "Big Five"; bears, moose, caribou, wolves and Dall sheep. Later today, you may want to simply relax with a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the Nenana River. Visit the Grizzly Burger or grab a slice at Lynx Creek Pizza.

Day 12 - 13: Fairbanks

Enjoy a leisurely morning before your motorcoach trip to Fairbanks for a 1-night stay. Take a cruise on an authentic Sternwheeler Riverboat down the Chena River. The evening is at leisure in Fairbanks.

Excel Your tour ends this morning in Fairbanks.
