Day 1: Arrive in San Jose

Arrive in Costa Rica via the San Jose international airport. Transfer immediately to your accommodations in Arenal, or acquire your rental car at the airport and drive on your own to your eco lodge in the shadow of the majestic Arenal Volcano. Rising from Costa Ricas northern lowlands, Arenal is an imposing, symmetrical volcano whose eruptions were once a major draw for tourists. After entering a resting phase in 2010, the volcano is still attracting visitors as the epicenter for soft adventure activities in Costa Rica. Arenal is a popular destination for adventure seekers and nature lovers, with many luxurious eco resorts nearby that offer zipline tours, river rafting adventures, birdwatching retreats, and so much more. Arenal is absolutely teeming with possibilities suited for young and old alike.

Day 2: Arenal

After breakfast, head to Lake Arenal for a tranquil experience atop the waters. Paddle the serene waters of Arenal Lake in a kayak while taking in views of the towering volcano nearby. This is an amazing opportunity to observe the magnificent Arenal Volcano from a perfect viewing distance while also getting active. After lunch, the rest of the afternoon and evening are at your leisure to explore or rejuvenate. If you are interested, you can book an optional entry into the famous Tabacon Hot Springs for a relaxing soak.

Day 3: Arenal

After breakfast, prepare yourself for a thrilling white water journey on the Sarapiqui River! Set in the lowlands of the rainforest, this family friendly trip takes rafters through the serpentine Sarapiqui river and through the dense jungle. Conquer the thrilling whitewater and enjoy a well deserved break while swimming in the flat pools set between the rapids. Revel in the breathtaking views of the jungle while spotting a wide variety of tropical birds along the way. After the river rafting trip is complete, return to your accommodations in Arenal where the rest of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 4: Arenal

After breakfast, travel to the top of the cloud forest canopy for an exciting and jaw dropping zipline tour! Zip through the jungle canopy that surrounds the Arenal Volcano along 15 cables and 18 viewing platforms. This tour is not only exhilarating but also enlightening, as each viewing platform is designed to provide unique observation angles into the forest ecosystem. After the tour is complete, return to your accommodations where the rest of the day is at your leisure to relax or embark on optional excursions.

Day 5: Arenal to Manuel Antonio

After breakfast, check out of your accommodations in Arenal and transfer, or drive yourself, to your accommodations in Manuel Antonio. Famous for its pristine beaches, Manuel Antonio is surrounded by tropical rainforest that covers rugged mountains and possesses options for all kinds of travelers. Manuel Antonio National Park beckons explorers with a wide variety of flora and fauna, including a colony of squirrel monkeys, sloths, caymans, monkeys, dolphins, humpback whales, sea turtles, and so much more. A multitude of eco resorts are in the area, making it easy for travelers to relax, soak in the sun at the beach, or book excursions into the National Park.

Day 6: Manuel Antonio

Expert guides will assist you throughout one of your most memorable experiences in the treetops. After your adrenaline rush, visit a butterfly garden and snake exhibit to learn more about this unique ecosystem. After the safari tour is complete, return to your accommodations where the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 7: Manuel Antonio

After breakfast, meet with an experienced naturalist guide for a comprehensive tour of the rainforest, beaches, and coral reefs of Manuel Antonio National Park! Your guide will accompany you through Manuel Antonio National Park where youll learn about the history, nature, and future of the park. The tour will end on the pristine whitesand beaches, where you are welcome to relax with snacks and other refreshments offered. Stay at the park as long as you want afterwards, or return to your accommodations where the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 8: Departure from San Jose

After breakfast, check out of your hotel in Manuel Antonio and transfer, or drive yourself, back to the San Jose International Airport. Begin your return trip home or onwards to your next Avanti Destination!
