Along with our 115 - year legacy as the leader in automotive services, one of our missions is to “shape the future of mobility by advocating safe, sustainable and equitable solutions in our community. ”All of AAA associations along, with our automotive research and advocacy teams based in Washington, D.C., are actively participating with automotive manufacturers and numerous industry players to shape the future of mobility.

One key emerging trend is the move toward the electrification of vehicles. As of the end of 2022, electric vehicles (EVs) represent 1.9 million, or 0.68% ,of the 284.2 million vehicles in operation. California, Texas, Florida and Washington have the most EVs per state. Our state of Minnesota had 19,261 EVs on the road at the end of 2022. By 2030, approximately 41% of new vehicle sales will be EVs; however, it will still represent a relatively small percentage of cars on the road.

EVs bring a different set of issues, such as much greater incidences of flat tires, critical electrical failures, and of course, the “range anxiety” around running out of charge. Our members are also asking questions like, “What should I look for when I purchase an EV?” and “How and where can I charge my vehicles?” and “What kind of maintenance issues will I have?”

To provide more information related to EV’s, we invite you to visit AAA.com/EVResources. We are also pleased to announce that in the coming months, we will be launching a new EV site within AAA.com that will answer all of your EV-related questions. In addition to rich content, this site will continually be updated to reflect the latest trends anddevelopments. We give you our word that AAA will continue to evolve to meet our members’ needs regardless of what mobility solutions may look like in future.
